Colin Graves MBA

Executive Coach and Business Coach

I am a coach, mentor, facilitator and consultant in leadership, management and team development. My passion is in enabling individuals and organisations to achieve their goals and realise their full potential.

I am told that my style is highly motivational. Everything we do is bespoke and so each programme is individually tailored to achieve the desired outcomes for the client.

Education and qualifications:

I believe that I bring a unique mix of skills. I have an Engineering degree, an MBA and a first class honours degree in Psychology. I am a qualified coach with the ILM level 7 certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring.

I am also an NLP Practitioner and certified to use a range of psychometric instruments including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Insights Discovery, 16PF, OPQ and Hay’s Leadership Styles Inventory and Emotional Intelligence 360 feedback.

Work experience:

Before my current role I had extensive experience ‘the other side of the desk’ managing people and running businesses. I feel that this adds another dimension to my current work. I worked for 12 years with GE in their global automation business and then I spent 7 years as MD for North Europe for Cognex, a high-tech Nasdaq quoted company.

At Cognex I grew the business to $10million and was responsible for building, motivating and leading a team of 20. In 2000 I helped set up Iridium and I joined full time in 2004 to focus 100% on developing leaders, managers and teams.

Coaching experience:

Clients range in size from small, privately owned, to multi-national corporations across a range of industries aswell as public sector and charitable organisations. For example: GE, Merchants, the NHS, Alzheimer Research, Ofgem, The Cabinet Office, and Vodafone.

My work includes one-to-one and team coaching, facilitation and training. The coaching ranges from one-off sessions to structured programmes extending up to 12 months. I also facilitate interpersonal skills workshops, team building days and leadership development programmes . I am also a volunteer business mentor for the Princes Trust.

  • Working with the client to embed the learning and take personal responsibility for ongoing development

Throughout the programme clients are provided with email and phone support. ‘Homework’ is agreed at the end of each session.
